Dell Says, No More Windows XP After 22nd October

Windows XP has been one of the best selling Operating Systems after Windows 7 from Microsoft. It had a successful run for many a years. Even after the launch of its successor Windows Vista, there was still a great demand for the Windows XP powered PC’s and Laptops. Some time back Microsoft reported about the End of Sales and End of support deadlines for Windows XP, according to which all the OEM’s would no longer be able to install Windows XP on Netbooks or Notebooks after 22nd October 2o1o. Now Dell has officially stated that they will stop offering Windows XP as an option for customers buying the systems, from this month in order to meet the deadline of next month. However they will provide the Driver support for Windows XP till December 2012.

Here’s what the Dell officials said about it,

Per Microsoft guidelines regarding Windows XP, system vendors like Dell will no longer be able to ship systems with XP Professional and XP Home after October 22, 2010. This means that we will stop offering XP as an option for customers starting this month in preparation for next month’s deadline. One other important thing to note is that Dell plans to continue Windows XP driver support until December 2012.

After the October 22 date, qualified customers will still be able to get systems with Windows XP (more details below) through Dell’s Custom Factory Integration service. So if you want a Windows XP powered system you better hurry; unless you are a qualified end user who can still still get the XP system after the date With Dells Custom Factory Integration Services. The last date to order Systems with Pre-installed Windows XP is 1st October 2010.
